Children
Introduce your children to the exciting world of health and happiness. With Kid Blitz, we teach children how to take care of their teeth and overall health in a manner that they can understand. We encourage children to practice good oral care, make good food choices, and have regular cleanings and checkups. Our office has a calm and quiet atmosphere and there is very little noise, with no needles to worry about. We strive to make each visit a positive experience for them. Our ultimate goal is for each child to have a lifetime of being cavity free by having healthy teeth and gums through our preventive services.
Children will receive a trip to the treasure box to choose a surprise for allowing us to check their smile. At the end of the visit, they go home with a new toothbrush and floss and we place their picture on our “HEALTHY SMILES WALL”.
Healthy Smiles Wall
We encourage and teach children who visit us about oral health and the importance of optimal oral hygiene. We celebrate their success in achieving a healthy smile by sharing their smile on our Healthy Smiles wall of Fame.
Kidz Healthy Tips
Infants:
It is important to begin oral hygiene at birth. Begin with a wet cloth and just simply wipe the residue from liquids and foods off the gums in morning and before bed. If feeding during the night, be sure to wipe the gums after each feeding – this prevents residue from resting on the gums and helps to build routine with the child. Doing this, the child will not resist as much to a toothbrush once the first tooth arrives. Once this tooth arrives, it’s time to brush it but with water only. Children at this age do not require fluoride in their toothpaste as they do not know how to spit it out. However, you may want to consider placing fluoride varnish on teeth as they erupt, as the city of Timmins does not have fluoride in the water system.
Children:
Brush your child’s teeth after breakfast and before going to sleep. Ensure that the child has nothing to eat or drink for at least 30 minutes after eating as this allows the fluoride in the toothpaste to have its full effect on the enamel. Flossing is introduced to ensure there is no food stuck in between teeth; this is one of the most common areas for cavities in children.
